Fatwa on Yoga, Non Muslims blogger + Malaysiakini readers comments and Muslims feeling

After Majlis Fatwa issued the Tomboy Fatwa, a few non Muslims and Islam Liberal NGO and individuals made comments which many Muslims feel hurt hearing about. I made a post on the matter and made a test of what if, we Muslims made a similar comments on non Muslims by using back their words.. and as a result, they failed miserably.. I was called names , even being called a 'bastard' and 'idiot'... well.. that's explain a lot.. In their comments, their angry is with UMNO.. but they attack like all muslims/Malays are UMNO people... which is very wrong... I'm no UMNO guy... we Muslims too feel the same on those insulting comments made by these 'IDIOTS" too....

Some confused on the word 'HARAM' here... most non muslims who criticized the fatwa in their blogs or at Malaysiakini did translate it as 'BAN'.. which is not true... Haram means many things in Islam... and Haram in this case is more towards 'forbidden" or 'not allowed'.. They should check their fact first before making criticism

The real reason is... most of them did not know what is a fatwa before making comments criticizing the Majlis Fatwa... One blogger did copy and paste the definition of Fatwa... but he failed to understand what he copy and past is all about and continue to attack the fatwa... If he understand of what he copy and paste, he will not attack the fatwa on Yoga...

Another blogger did ask if there will be a fatwa on tosai... which i think is very idiotic thinking... and in the post, one reader (tzul) did point out some rational explanation to him...

Some Malaysiakini readers too wrote some idiotic comments on the fatwa rulings which can be categorized as 'stupid comments" such as fatwa on Karate etc... which most of ot comes from their lack of knowledge on Islam and what is a fatwa....

The point is, they did not look at the statement of the Majlis Fatwa... The "senaman' itself is not haram... Majlis Fatwa just mentioned that it is not recommended.... the one that is haram is where there involves rituals and 'mantra' in it... As Islamic faith is based on Akidah... if the akidah is corrupt, then goes the faith and the shahadah... this is the reason... not that because it belongs to any particular race or religion... if a silat has some 'mentera' or jampi which is considered 'syirik'.. than it is also haram.... many silat already in this situation before such as "silat Pesaka Tujuh Negeri Perlis"... and Silat Gayong Makrifat... It's simple... everything is on akidah.... on Makyong... Kelantan already ban it.. only UMNO people are championing it now...

In this case, if a thing is haram, we must say it is haram... we cannot say a haram thing as makroh or halal... Maybe in some instance, Islam Hadhari did that... making something which is haram as halal and vice versa....

Many did question about fatwa on corruption and detention without trials... If you understand what is a fatwa, then you will not make such question... It is because, a fatwa is issued on something that is not clear on its status... such as Amanah Saham Bumputra, Yoga, Tomboy.. putting flowers at Tugu etc.. and it is issued only when there is a question arise... read more at wikipedia to understand it... and these fatwa is not legally binding... People are still smoking cigarette even when there is already a fatwa saying that smoking cigarette is haram... and Abdullah Badawi is still putting flower at Tugu Negara eventhough Majlis Fatwa said it is Haram... Only DYMM Agong (Raja Perlis as Ex Agong and Sultan Terengganu as current Agong) did not do this ritual as they know the hukum... but nobody are arresting Abdullah Badawi, cigarette smokers for violating the fatwa....

In the case of corruption and detention without trials.... it is very clear in Islam... that Corruptions is Haram as the money and property gained is not according to halal guideline.. and so does detention without trials as it is an act of cruelty (zalim)... Something that is clear of its status does not need a fatwa...

Sister in Islam is one of the champion on these issues.. which I believe their motives is to attack anything that the Majlis Fatwa issued which they deems not according to their Islam Liberal belief... Their reasoning is according to their thinking.. not according to Al Quran and Hadith.... BTW.. where are they on the struggle to fight commercials exploitation of women especially on advert??? We would like to see more of it from SiS.....

These kind of comments attacking the Fatwa only serve UMNO and BN more.. as UMNO and BN will incites the Muslims sentiments by linking these people to Pakatan Rakyat... but in reality.. these people links more towards UMNO and BN... SiS for example is more towards UMNO.. as the daughter of all 4 previous PM is their patrons and Zainah Anwar... one of the big shot in SiS is a family friend of Abdullah Badawi through Handon and Nori... many non Muslim bloggers who made comments are not even a party member of Pakatan Rakyat parties... they just gives their supports to PR... (I'm not saying all... as some did joined PR parties)

Anak Perelih,

Thank you for clarifying and giving us non-muslims a better understanding.

I believe the comments were taken too personally or may have not been directed too correctly such that it sounds like hurting the feelings of the muslims in general.
Really the general feeling is that the Fatwa and expressed reasons behind it does reflect a rather shallow and backward thinking on the part of the parties or individuals proposing it. As is not all muslims agree and honour the Fatwa and support it. So what does that tell you? Comments might have come from these muslims too. So please do not feel so hurt. It is and should not be a criticism of muslims but rather they are directed at the mentality of the individuals who have came up with this Fatwa. Peace brother.

Assalaamualaikum,

I read your comments on Malaysiakini and I think it is very good..And I salute you for that post...However, I personally think you missed the opportunity to explain things more clearly...In your explanation you still used arabic words such as "halal", haram","shahadah","makroh', "akidah" and so forth..which I think would just make the non-muslims confuse more...Even, not all muslims could understand those words...

I think It could have better if you minimise using the words and take the chance to explain how muslims are all united because of the way the decide things in unity one of which thru fatwa...

Thank...Wallahuaalam

assalamualaikum, can you pleae clarify a thing; you mention that silat gayong maarifat is 'sesat'; sorry if i read it wrong. But do you have any proof for your statement?

Warid Mihat said...

i do appreciate your interest in giving reference for each statement that you gave but in this case - which i went to the link that you provided - i found that you are manipulating the statement made by the JAKIM. I think the body did not make any statement about Gayong Maarifat as 'sesat'. The same goes to the other silat organisation which you mentioned in this entry. Please retract your allegation by giving right information.
